Cosmetic surgery gift certificates

We occasionally get calls for gift certificates for cosmetic surgery....husbands/boyfriends want to surprise their significant other with a breast augmentation, liposuction, facelift, etc. As you can imagine, the giver better have a good idea this is something the give wants. Could have a real downside.

More common are gift certificates for things like skin treatments, microdermabrasion, Botox, Restylane...procedures that are not as invasive as surgery. We can give a lot of improvement with these methods, but not as much as a surgical procedure.

Of course we do all our surgery here at IMAAGE in our JCAHO-accredited in-office surgery suite. It's a major plus for our patients.

navigating gift certificate waters On 13 December 2006 @ 07:25AM tom haas, md commented:

SherriT - you're correct in that you have to be very careful suggesting something like this. I surveyed my team of advisors (my wife and my entire female staff), and they all agree...if she has not made her desire obvious already, you don't want to be the one to bring it up. I was assured women know how to make their desires obvious even to us clueless men.

Having warned you, let's look at the upside. It is very rewarding to see a women bloom with self-confidence after a breast augmentation, lipo, facelift, whatever...clothes fit, lingerie fits, bath suits fit. Cosmetic surgery is the only surgery that makes at least more than one person happy. (Disclaimer - I tell patients all the time "there is no happiness operation"...we can make breasts bigger, perkier, remove fat, etc...only YOU can make YOU happy).

Soooo...bottom line...if she wants this, she has probably dropped enough hints that you should know. Proceed with caution.

"...the giver better have a good idea this is something the givee wants." - LOL! Maybe you can give some hints about how to 'test the water' with a candidate?
