Finally a day with sunshine. Love it!
This is the time of year when people finally realize spring is here and summer is around the corner. You know what that means...exposed body parts. Which means now is the time to address the sagging skin, cellulite, fat deposits, deflated breasts, etc...now is the time for liposuction, breast augmentations, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, etc and to have enough time to heal for Derby or summer. I tell patients you'll need a few weeks to look good in your new bathing suit so plan accordingly if you have a vacation or wedding coming up.
Lots of people try to fit in their surgery around spring break, and that's ok but usually that's only 1 week. One week is usually long enough to recover and go back to work after a breast augmentation or liposuction, but probably not long enough for a tummy tuck or body lift.
By doing all our procedures here in our certified surgery suite, we can usually accommodate schedules easier than relying on the hospitals. And of course it is much more private, luxurious, and I think safer and cleaner. Our patients love it.

We're back to fighting the consult fee. We charge $50 for our consults, and this money can be applied to any surgical fee or service, so the patient's net expense is zero.
We provide a tremendous amount of service and education for this small investment. The consults are extensive, you meet with me, not the nurse or 'surgical coordinator'. Plan on being in the office for almost 2 hours, longer if you plan on a 'mommy makeover'.
We do all our cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in our JCAHO-accredited in-office surgery suite. We are the only plastic surgery practice in the area that can say that. Cosmetic surgery is all we do. We do not participate in any insurance plans. Bottom line, we are the real deal, real plastic surgery. We are the specialists in silicone breast implants, liposuction, tummy tucks, facelifts, etc.
I tell the front office all the time, do not be defensive about our consult fee. If the caller balks at that, they are not serious and let the waste someone else's time while we meet with people committed to looking better.

The relentless negative media takes its toll on my outlook. Despite the stories in the CJ and NY Times about gloom and doom, if you read between the lines and pay attention to all the new construction in the Louisville area, the economy does not look that bad. 'They' say the three businesses that survive any recession are booze, cigarettes, and sex. I don't know where plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery fit in that mix, but things are steady at the office.
No business survives without providing excellent value for their customer. Value is a perception and I tell patients all the time, 'Wal-Mart will always have customers'. There are people who shop by price regardless of what they are buying, and there are people who appreciate the service that Imaage provides with everything we sell.
A patient yesterday found some skin care package on eBay for $100 less than we sell it. I told her when she has a question or problem, call eBay. She quickly understood that we (Imaage) provided more value for the money.
It's the same thing for all our plastic surgery, be it breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts, mommy-makeovers, whatever...you get your money's worth.

In case you haven't noticed, we pushing the envelope on ads for Imaage. We've got a few calls from subscribers to the CJ complaining about our 'underwear ads' (???hello - how clueless are you). I like the human body, the human form, and do not think there is anything to be embarrassed or shamed about to show it. Of course we show pretty girls and attractive people because that's the business we're in...making people feel better about themselves.
And we're gonna continue. We plan on continuing our print media campaign, including our newsletter, websites, etc, featuring sayings like 'how do you like me now?' and 'make your ex wish he wasn't'. These feature our main business, breast augmention, liposuction, tummy tucks, etc...all cosmetic surgery. We do all our cosmetic/plastic surgery in our JCAHO-accredited in-office surgery suite...that is our competitive advantage as no one else in the area can say that. Business is really good despite our relatively down economy. Some of this has to do with our expertise in silicone implants...they have a much better feel and usually better appearance than saline implants and our patients love them.
