Who's doing your cosmetic surgery?

Some recent articles in trade journals on plastic and cosmetic surgery have very valid points. Points the plastic surgery establishment is not crazy about. The focus of these articles is how 'real' plastic surgeons (those board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and members of the American Society of Plastic Surgery) are the only ones who are qualified to do cosmetic surgery, ie breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, facelifts. However, and this is true, there is usually little time spent on cosmetic surgery training during the 7-8 YEARS of training it takes to become a plastic surgeon. Thus, you either have to figure it out on your own or go to further unregulated cosmetic surgery training. The marketplace has already figured out who those surgeons are that are giving the most patient value and satisfaction. I can assure you, 90% of my patients do not understand my qualifications or all the initials behind my name. Coincidentally, I am required to maintain certain amounts of continuing education on a 3 year cycle that ends 12/31/08...of course met those requirements and much more but I have to start over 1/1/09 for another 3 years. Again, worth doing but probably not viewed as having any value to the usual patient.

Video shoot today

Shot another commercial spot with a company out of Atlanta. They were very professional and to shoot a 3-4 minute shot took about 3 hours. You would think you don't need that long but it's suprising how much cosmetic surgery (breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, etc) you can cover in that amount of time...plus about 30 retakes each. Thank goodness for editing. This group is a class act...lighting, sound, etc. Had to turn all the phones off and none of the staff could walk around (heels on the floor!!). Made me sweat more than a 1/2 hour shoot for cable recently. It will be interesting to see what we get out of this. Optimistic. And this was after a couple surgeries this morning so I'm ready to go watch the Cards pound Lamar.
