Transgender surgery

Had another consult the other day for a patient requesting 'top surgery'...this is lingo for transgender surgery involving the breast. I regularly do surgery on transgender folks and feel strongly that this is the 'right' thing to do. I spent some time with this patient learning the key words that this community uses to punch into google to find a surgeon. Although I've been doing cosmetic surgery for 20+ years, I needed education to understand how to get the word out to these patients.

FTM (female to male) or MTF (male to female) means either making a male chest from a female chest or vice versa. We also send a letter to the state verifying gender reassignment from this 'transsurgery'.
